Cynthia is a family law attorney with over 5 years of experience in King County. She is a founding board member and past president of QLaw: The GLBT Bar Association of Washington and a graduate of the Washington State Bar Association Leadership Institute. She frequently presents before public and professional groups on issues relating to the new Washington state domestic partnership law and other family law matters.
She has been selected as a Rising Star by Washington Law & Politics three years in a row, an honor bestowed upon fewer than 2% of the lawyers in the State of Washington. Additionally, she holds a a 10/10 rating on Avvo, achieving top ratings for experience, industry recognition and professional conduct. Prior to starting the Law Offices of Cynthia F. Buhr PLLC, Cynthia worked for Spencer Anderson Buhr PLLC as a family law attorney handling numerous trials, motions, settlement conferences and adoptions.
Prior to entering private practice, Cynthia served as an extern for a King County Superior Court Judge and for a number of public interest organizations. including the San Francisco AIDS Legal Referral Panel, Society of Counsel Representing Accused Persons, and the ACLU of Washington. While at the ACLU, she assisted with the ACLU’s marriage equality case.
